This letter is your invitation to join the American
Chamber of Commerce - Greater Tianjin Branch (AmCham-Tianjin),
the first organization representing US companies and
individuals doing business in the Greater Tianjin area.
AmCham - Greater Tianjin Branch is a voluntary
organization of business people with activities in Tianjin,
China. We are in our eighth year of existence and already
have more than 100 members representing major US companies
in Tianjin. AmCham Tianjin has grown apace with the
dramatic influx of American businesses into the China
market. The chamber's mission is to provide a forum
for Americans engaged in business in Tianjin and to
work with Chinese and U.S. government authorities to
help foster vibrant and constructive commercial relations
between the two countries.
AmCham Tianjin invites you to join and share your skills,
experience and ideas so that to make the organization
stronger.
AmCham Tianjin is a rapidly growing organization
offering three types of membership: Corporate, Individual
and Associate. Please see details on page 2 to determine
which best suits your particular interest.

through monthly meetings, committee meetings and AmCham
sponsored social gatherings and sporting events.

from the public and private sectors. Past speakers have
included high-level U.S. government officials, Chinese
government officials, industry experts, professional
consulting experts, scholars and Specialists on China
and the Asia-Pacific region as well.
3. A Channel to promote trade commerce and investment
between U.S. business and China in the Tianjin area.
4. Positive exposure to the local community by supporting
local charities and businesses.
5. Ongoing opportunity for sharing ideas and skills
with other AmCham members and enjoying the gatherings
and meetings.
Publications:
1. Free delivery of "AmCham Tianjin Newsletter",
a monthly newsletter with a circulation of 10,000 in
Tianjin, filled with information of interest to the
AmCham community.
2. The annual Membership Directory offers a comprehensive
listing, both in English and Chinese, of AmCham-Tianjin
member companies and their representatives, as well
as individual members. The directory also provides useful
information about other resources in Tianjin, the Chinese
government, the U.S. Embassy, and important facts for
business executives in China.
3. www.amchamtianjin.org is our interactive website
aiming to make the best use of the Internet to reach
our AmCham-Tianjin members. Our 'Members Only' Section
provides much information about member companies as
well as the AmCham Organization.
US Embassy:
1. Embassy Briefings with key US Embassy officials.
2. Business Visa Service privilege at US Embassy for
AmCham members. This service, designed in cooperation
with U.S. Embassy, allows qualified U.S. companies with
membership in AmCham-China to conveniently apply for
U.S. Visas for their Chinese staff and business associates.
Other Benefits:
1. Eligibility to become an affiliated member
of AmCham-China (Beijing) for a reduced cost
of 450 USD.
2. AmCham presents programs of interest to members as
well as their spouses. These programs could be helpful
in the integration into the Tianjin local life for the
entire family. Programs include: family trip, bowling,
golfing, fishing, picnics and other social gatherings.
3. AmCham Member Discount programs-discounts given to
our membership cardholders at restaurants, hotels and
transportation and living services.
Membership Categories:
Corporate: Any company with at least 50% American
ownership, established or having a representative in
the Greater Tianjin Area (Any number of non-voting representatives
from each Corporate Member may also join).
Individual: Any U.S. citizen resident in the
Greater Tianjin Area, 21 years of age or above, who
is engaged in business or a profession in the Greater
Tianjin Area, but whose company does not qualify for
the Corporate Membership.
Associate: Any company not qualified for corporate
membership, but whose business relationship in the U.S.
or U.S. company are such that their membership in the
American Chamber of Commerce- Greater Tianjin Branch
will, in the opinion of the Board of Governors, contribute
toward the objectives of the organization. Please provide
a brief description of your commercial relationship
with the U.S.
Note: Companies formed, founded or incorporated outside
the United States can become AmCham members as long
as they have significant investment or operational interests
in the U.S.
How to join?
1. Read the Membership Categories above.
2. Complete attached application form or download the
form from our website www.amchamtianjin.org and submit
this form to the AmCham Office.
3. Attach a copy of the identity page of your passport.
4. Attach a copy of your business license in China.
For representative offices, attach a copy of your company
registration certificate
5. Attach your business card (in both English and Chinese
if available).
6. Return the form and attachments to the AmCham Tianjin
office.
Note: Your application and documents will be reviewed
by the AmCham-Tianjin Board of Governors. Upon approval,
you will receive an invoice for membership dues. Membership
becomes effective only upon receipt of membership dues.
Membership is valid for the calendar year in which the
application is approved (i.e., all memberships expire
on December 31). Memberships may be transferred but
are not refundable. Membership transfers must be approved
by the AmCham-Tianjin Board of Governors.
